| You're bulletin made me sad. Don't give up on contests just because you don't place in them. It doesn't mean your work isn't good enough, but tons of people enter those things, and lots of excellent work doesn't win anything. So try not to feel bad. ^^ |
| I looked at your bulletin on contests, and I can understand your feelings. When I first joined here, for a looong time I didn't really win contests. It made me feel absolutely frustrated that all the "good" artists kept getting all of the recognition. I didn't win the prizes. But one thing that did happen when I entered contests was that my art got noticed. I was able to connect with more and more people the more contests I entered, because while it's fun to draw for yourself, others pay more attention when you draw on a subject they're connected to. Some of my very first fans came through contest participation. Plus, if you keep entering and drawing, you'll get better. I know it won't feel like that at all, but if you keep on doing it and look back like a few months later, you can see the improvement. That happened to me. I try to see contests not as something to necessarily win at, but a challenge to get me to draw something I normally wouldn't. The frustration will never go away. I've recently become frustrated that I can never even place in the site-wide contest, though I work really hard on my entries and I'm proud of them. But at the end of the day, it is *my* art, and if I'm proud of it, that's all that matters. So don't give up! There is only progress from here. :) (I think your art is very nice, by the way. I love the designs of Motsumi and Rwandi--they are very canon-like and subtle in their unique differences. Those kinds of designs are my favorite.) |

I really should get back into drawing lions and steer away from my naga characters on other sites.

| Hi there! So you won second place in my contest, you should let me know what you'd like as your prize, or I can come up with something on my own. You get a full pic with background and as many characters as you want. Congrats and thanks for playing :) Edit: Second Place is nothing to be ashamed of, and really you get the same prize as first so I can say that you you and the other person that entered my contest both won first. ;) I thought you did an excellent job and you worked hard at it, so the hands aren't your downfall, they are just another necessary part of being an artist. Your art will get better over time if you keep at it and stop with the negative talk. You're still learning, think of it as another challenge that will ultimately help you get better. You have a lot of potential and your art has already improved since you started here, just keep at it :) |

I figured that's what happened when I didn't see her up there anymore. I didn't have time to draw more than one picture and I don't have auto approval so that has me at a major disadvantage.
