01 - Weaver

Weaver is my avatar.

A thylacat is a [make-believe] relative of the Thylacine. Only differences are long ears and the tufts of mane down the back of the neck. (and the fact she's got bright blue markings...)

02 - Dawn and Spire

Dawn of the Rising Sun is the leader of the Nomadic Pride and Spire's mate.

She's playful, inquisitive and amazingly patient. Her aim in life is to keep the pride happy and healthy, a leader role she takes to happily.

The nomadic pride roams the pridelands with no "base" land. They settle down wherever they are for the night and move on in the morning. The pride tries to avoid conflicts with other prides that are not so tolerant of their lack of a male.

Her hunting role in the pride is the one who startles the prey and chases them, herding it towards where the others lay in wait to separate the target and direct it towards Spire.

= = =

Spire of the Shadowed Marsh is a member of the Nomadic Pride.
Spire is a grouchy, antisocial marsh lion. She is easily as large as a full grown male pridelander and is often regarded as intimidating.

She's not the sharpest tool in the shed and focuses mainly on loving her mate and keeping her mate, and hence the pride, happy.

The scars on her face and neck are just a part of life and no tragic event. They were caused by a jealous male trying to claim Dawn as his own when Spire stepped in and fought him off. She holds no resentment for the lion and just accepts it as a fact of life that there will be lions out there who will not accept that she is Dawn's and Dawn is her's.

When hunting, her role is the one who takes the prey down with a swift attack to the neck, as she is easily the strongest of the pride.

03 - Sienna and Rahska

Sienna and Rahska of the Whispering Grass are twin sisters. Nearly identical, Sienna is the one with the radio-tracking collar.
(Young adults)

The two of them are mischievous and constantly getting into trouble and playing tricks on each other and other creatures. This makes Spire grumpy, but she puts up with it.

When hunting, the two of them wait for Dawn to frighten the prey in their direction before separating the target and herding it to where Spire waits to strike. They work in perfect teamwork.

06 - Kamau

Kamau has freckles :3

Kamau, while physically male, is female. She has always felt this way and it has never bothered her.

Asexual and uninterested in anything but friendship, she struggles to make sense of a world where some lions will attack her as competition when she has no interest in claiming/becoming part of a pride
Nevertheless, she's a very serious and 'solid' type of lion.

Kamau is not an official part of the Nomadic Pride, but more is an accepted rogue who eats their scraps when they're done. She's tolerated at this point. They don't dislike her, they're just unsure of how to take her presence.

Sienna and Rahska appreciate her as a sort of "adopted sister" and will occasionally venture over to chat.

TLK - Chaka

Chaka is my concept of Kiara's younger brother. His design is still being worked out. Aiming for a kind of cross between Mufasa and Scar anatomy and a reddish Nala colouring.

Chaka was born 10 minutes after Kiara. The presentation ceremony had been done in that time, so he was never officially presented to the animals of the pridelands.
As they grew Kiara and Chaka had many adventures, both together and separate. Chaka adored his "older" sister and she was rather fond of him. Kiara was bright and inquisitive and Chaka was happy and willing to follow her lead.
Everything was content, because with Scar's death the pridelands were safe from hyena's and Simba did not need to worry about them wandering unprotected in the pridelands.

One day while Kiara and Chaka where playing, Zira came upon them. Zira had never been the same since Scar's death, neglecting her own cubs [the near-grown Nuka and the not-yet born Kovu].
When Zira came upon the unwatched cubs she was seized with an insane rage. Kiara was talking about how one day she would be queen and Chaka was pronouncing how he will be King of the pride nearby.
Drawing herself out of the grass Zira wandered over to the cubs who greeted her happily. She killed Chaka in one swift bite to the back of the neck, before flinging his body away from her.
Kiara's mind shattered at the death of her brother and all reason left her as she tried to flee from the enraged Zira. In her attempt at flight she was sent flying down the rocks by a particularly rough blow where she landed roughly and lay twitching.
Zira assumed she died from such a harsh blow and wanders on her happy way.

When Simba is informed of his son's death and his daughter's comatose state, he is enraged and banishes Zira and her followers from the pridelands.

When Kiara awakes from her traumatising experience, she has reverted to a foggy, near-cub like state. Her mind had been damaged by witnessing the death of her brother and the following attack and she does not recall ever having a brother.
She must learn to walk and talk again, and her father is obsessive about her protection, encouraging her dependency.
Mention of Chaka is forbidden as the mere hint that she ever had a real, live brother sends Kiara into a panicking, irrational frenzy of fear. Any memories she has of Chaka and her previous "life" is considered a dream and not real by her, and she desperately avoids any hint that life was ever different.
