My fursoneh =>{:D The form I take on in my artwork, and my way of making myself feel closer to the TLK universe – and one of its characters in particular. Maybe when I’m not so lazy I’ll also post her biography and some more info on what she means to me as a character, but for now, you’ll need to settle for her personality - which is, mind you, entirely separate from my own IRL, though actually fairly akin to the facade I put on over the ‘Net.
Daughter of Kovu and Kiara. Tomboyish, bubbly and ambitious - but she has interited more of her great-great-uncle (and possible grandfather)'s sadism than even she is aware.
Son of Kovu and Kiara. Precocious, curious and clear-headed – but unsure of himself as well as everything around him.
Zakolos's mother was a blind Spotted Hyena who was tricked into mating with a Striped Hyena after her sense of smell was disabled in a fight with an African Wild Dog, leaving her unable to distinguish species. After an emotionally difficult puphood Zakolos attached himself to the Elepahnt Graveyard hyena clan where he found his species was something that did not matter so long as he proved himself useful to Scar, a lion allied with the clan. He enjoyed this life of doing grunt work in exchange for easy meals for some time until he learned of Scar's plans to murder his brother, King Mufasa. Despite being extremely sardonic, crass and emotionally numb, Zakolos was disgusted at the thought of aiding the murder of a lion - he had a grudging respect for the species ever since one had saved his mother's life. He therefore deserted the clan altogether and eventually met up with Kirrone the fennec fox, and together they spent the entirety of Scar's reign plotting to overthrow him. Unfortuneatly all of their attempts went totally unnoticed - but by the time Simba reclaimed the throne, they had cemented such a close friendship that they never really abandoned their pastime of playing immature jokes on the royal family together.
One of my oldest Lion King characters (along with Zak), and one of the most sketchy. Here's a shot at developing her, though:
Father of Takufi. A nobleman of the Sounderlands (one "province") of the Pride Lands, he spent his whole life taking in teachings of everything except how to interact with his heir, and a result he never really bonds with his daughter - even though he subconsciously loves her deeply, and goes through great pains to protect her despite barely knowing her. Neither father nor daughter really ever suffer as a result of his emotional distance, due to the fact that Ngiri relies so heavily on Sabiti - not only to raise Takufi, but in more areas than he realises.
Pumbaa's authoratative brother. Not to be confused with Ngiri, he dedicates himself to protecting his three younger littermates - especially Pumbaa - in their own interests as well as those of the sounder. However, he commonly takes this protection to the point where he seems almost brutish and tactless, and ends up hurting his loved ones more than helping them.
The courageous, mentally unstable father of Pumbaa. An old friend of Lord Ngiri, and once served as a "soldier" whose job was to deal with any predators who abused their right to visit the Sounderlands. As a reward for his services, Ngiri offered him a pick of the local sows - his choice was Buzela, who bore Nguvu, Twaza, Nyeti and Pumbaa. The two of them genuinely cared for each other during the first week or so of the litter's lives, until Balfuu - desparate to experience being a husband and father twice over - made advances on Sabiti, the newly-pregnant Lady of the Sounderlands. Enraged, Ngiri clashed with his former friend, resulting in Balfuu losing his right tusk as well as his place in the central sounder. Though his already questionable sanity deteriorated while in exile, his optimism did not, and he kept high hopes for his children even when miles apart from them.
Mother of Takufi. A genuinely caring mother and wife, if very stress-prone and slightly absent-minded. As a piglet Takufi never really clicked with Buzela's (much older) litter, and the only one with whom she did was virtually banned from seeing her. Having no (surviving) littermates left her with her mother as her only real playmate, friend and emotional crutch - Sabiti knew all too well that this would hinder Takufi later in life, but chose not to sever the close mother-daughter bond they shared at any cost. She was, to say the least, devastated when Takufi left the Sounderlands with no explanation or warning.
Over-protective, sometimes underconfident mother of Pumbaa.
Eldest son of Pumbaa and Takufi, therefore the heir of Sounder Rock: and he knows it, though he he isn't quite sure what it'll entail. Not the sharpest tusk in the jaw, he seems to be constantly pleased with life and himself, and is good at disregarding negative things so he can simply relax and amuse himself - and in turn, everyone around him with his slight awkwardness and clumisness.
Daughter of Pumbaa and Takufi. Hyperctive and smartalecky, she generally prefers her own company, but is loving toward her family - even if she often shows it in the wrong ways.
Son of Pumbaa and Takufi. More sociable than Zihi, but also more introverted: he views his philosophical intelligence as a curse, and knowing piglets his age will shun him for it, he retreats into his own fantasy world as well as the comfort of his father.
An apprentice Rafiki spent the last few weeks of his life (and therefore, the first few weeks of Kovu and Kiara’s cubs’ lives) training. Despite her inexperience, she proves herself a very calm and competent shamaness – even if her methods are very unconventional and sometimes morally questionable.
Kimeta symbolises everything I hate about the LKFAA community. Having said that: there are a lot more things I love about it, so don't worry :>{:)
