Luims
Luims are creatures classified in the big cat species. They were said to be lions that were experimented on with harsh toxins by African agencies, and escaped into the wild and later developed into their own species. Their name comes from the Afrikaans word for "mood", due to the crystals that glow on their body and change color with emotion. the more severity the emotion, the more it glows. Their eyes also change with the crystals, and have rings around their pupils. Their eye whites also change color with emotion (they are just a lighter color than the crystal/eye color)
Crystal Colors:
Green- depicts neither a positive or negative emotion, like curious, suprised, focused, neutral.
Orange- negative emotion; annoyed, uncomfortable, bothered. Generally any emotion leading out of one's comfort zone.
Yellow- positive emotion, any one feeling a sense of happiness/joy. Zealous, cheery, energetic, in love, giddy.
Red- Negative emotion; enraged, ready for attack. Generally extreme anger.
Light Blue- Negative emotion; confused, nervous, guilty, and emotion that makes one worry or unfomfortable.
Dark Blue- Positive, feeling of relaxation and no worries, comfortable.
Purple- Negative emotion; depicts sadness, pain, suffer, ect.
Pink- for adult females only. Indicates ready to mate.
Anatomy:
Luims have strong thick necks and arched shoulders, with their lower body down in a slant. They also have large chests like cheetahs. Their tails are relatively short and thick, which makes it act like a rudder. The tail tuft stretches a little under the tail. They have long legs for speed, and large stocky paws for strength. They have incredible stamina. Their teeth are relatively short, but they curve back like their claws to cling on to their prey. Claws are retractable.
Markings:
All Luims have dark marks on their muzzles, paws, legs, and tails called "shadow markings". They also have "v" shaped light marks on their front paws called "seagull marks".
Mane:
A males mane stretches from head to where the tail starts, while females' end at the back of the shoulders. Cub males have a developing tuft on their rear end, and will eventually stretch across backline when adulthood is reached.
Hunting Strategy:
Luims have found a way to almost turn off their crystal glow when trying to lay undetected. This method takes about 2 years.
The Second Sight:
Luims possess a unique ability in their eyesight. They can switch to a heat-seaking vision to pick up a prey's body heat. This is a very useful method, especially went hunting at night. When in the second sight, their eyes and rings turn white.
Colors:
Males are usually dark in color, while females are lighter. They range in all natural colors, as well as their mane, which can be multicolored. Their nose can come in any color, and it is the same color as the pawpads and tounge (mouth is just a darker shade)
Social:
Most Luims live together in small groups of 2-10, usually with family members. Loners are very common, especially if a drought hits and the numbers become a downfall to survival. They do not have a social status, and prefer to hunt alone to prevent food squabbles.
