(.) Arcus
Adopted from: hibbary
-on comments for another charrie-As for story, I'm hoping to use him as the Mountain spirit that saves/changes Arcus(if I get him). The back story with him would be along the lines of a Liger, not really at home with the pride he was born to, due to reasons of "Zomg I dun look right" feelings, so he journeys to the far mountains to talk with the great spirits. upon reashing the summit he is weak and weary, but no less determined to find his tru place. He waits and waits, but the spirits never come, until finnally, just before his body gives up, the previous spirit is intregued by his determination, and anoints him as the new spirit.
A lone lioness is exiled from her pride for being accused for a union of taboo origins. By Pride law, a lioness to be caught 'in the company' of a non pride member, let alone a different spiece (leopard in this case), without the blessing of the King would be given two choices. Kill her own cubs upon their birth, or leave.

-Ice Cave image- The mother, pleading for her cubs lives to be spared, is heard by the 'mountain spirit' and granted her dying wish, however it's too late for one cub. The living cub is taken to a pride that resides at the bottom of the mountain and placed in their care with the spirits blessing *to be Arcus's brother*. Returning to the lifeless cub, the spirit grants him life again, but he is changed, and becomes a 'half spirit' and destined to take over duty as guardian once he is old enough.
-unfinished sketch-As time went on, the cub grew to adulthood, well aware of his destiny, but still, a hint of curiosity remained surrounding his brother. Bound to the mountain, he was unable to venture out to the world below, and thus any glimpses of his last living family member were painfully rare. Word on the wind had brought news of a pride near the base of the mountain, and Arcus raced to the rumored area. Little did he know that this time, he would be faced with an encounter that could jeopardize his standing as a spiritual heir.
This pride, as he sees, is a new pride. Or rather, a group of wanderer's looking to establish a new kingdom. They're waiting at the foot of the mountain for the return of a scouting party that had attempted to scale the mountain, looking for a way over. However, it's been far too long, and the pride begins to believe that the party may be lost. Arcus, starved(for lack of a better word) for contact with other intelligent beings, goes off in search of the expidition party. Not really knowing what to say to them if he finds them, since communicating isin't the highest attribute amongst his skills, but knowing it's what his predecessor would have done had he been privy to the information.
He does find them, but for most of the party, it's too late. One of them, however, still showed signs of life. Uncertian of what to do, he took her (biiiiig emphasis on the 'her') to a cave, secure against the biting cold of the mountain nights, intending to wait until morning to return her to her pride. Or at least to where they could find her. One thing he hadn't counted on was her waking up throughout the night. Confused and dazed, she spoke out to him. Gentle tones, so much unlike the jovial, harty voices of his senior. It was something new, something he didn't know how to respond to, so he did what came natural when he felt exposed. He remained silent. But she kept on talking. She talked of little things, reminising about the finer times of her past, like one about to die might say, as if to remind themselves that they had once lived. But unlike this, she didn't die. She talked throughout the night, and into the morning, growing more aware of herself and the strangly colored lion keeping watch at the mouth of the cave. As sunlight broke over the crest of the mountain, and shone in the cave, Arcus fur gleamed like fresh snow, casting a shimmer through the cave that would make one think of an Aurora. In the light of day, the spirit looked exactly like what he was... An ethereal being.
The only words he spoke that morning were that of their departure, once again silent as he carried the still weak lioness to the foot of the mountain. He set her down, making sure he had her feet before leaving her to her pridemates. But, before he was able to turn and leave, she steped foward, a quick, intamate moment of thanks as her cheek brushed up his mane and she nuzzled his chin.
Stunned, as a word, is far too weak for the feeling Arcus felt at that moment. For the first time since his rebirth, he felt warmth within himself, and in an instant, burst into tiny snow flurries, ascending to parts of the mountain unknown.
The Lioness was awestruck. She'd suspected there was something special about her savior, but never that that something was so spectacular. She remained where she stood for several moments, just looking up at the mountain, before turning to rejoin her pride. She had much to tell them...
Eyes wide, heart racing, fear, surprise, happyness, confusion, all these things tumnbled inside the snow spirit as he paced their fridged home. He didn't know what to do. What to think. What to tell Kyonden...Kyonden. What would he say? At this, fear gripped his being. The Immortal were forbidden to meddle in the affairs of the living. What he'd just done could easily be considered a theft from the keepers of hell. And the keepers of hell were far higher up than a spirit of nature. Lost in his inner turmoil, Arcus never noticed his keeper return from his summons to the Higher Court*1. In a flurry of ice and fur, a paw shot out, sending the younger spirit across the snow covered rocks and skidding to a halt.Shaking his head, he looked up, dazed, confused, but as things came into focus, his eyes met those of Kyonden, whose burned with rage. Oh yes. He already knew. He was told directly by the Keeper of the Gates of Eternity herself*2.
*tis getting late, so i'ma wrap this up fast D:>*
Arcus is then on the recieving end of a toung lashing, which after a while, Kyon has a flashback moment where he saved Arcus's Brother, and had Arcus turned into a spirit, via his moms's dying plee. Stuff goes back to normal for a bit and word comes to the mountain again that the 'newly anointed priests' of a wandering tribe believes the lands surrounding the mountains should belong to her pride, since the spirit of the mountain saved her life. Most of this talk actually comes from the other pride members, speaking for her by command of their king. (seems after the snow flurry incident, she was 'marked' by the gods *a mixture of white and blueish grey markings showed up later where she'd some into contact with Arcus...go figure X3*) The Pride leader has declaired war on the exhisting pride in the area. The pride where Arcus Brother was sent to and has been living since way back when. *insert inner conflict with Arcus here* The two prides do battle in a few small skirmishes, the resident Pride outnumbering the wandering pride, but the Wandering pride more versed in combat and generally more skilled. As it turns out, the new pride begins to get the upper hand, but this really doesn't sit will with the now priestess lioness, and she goes to the mountain to seek wisdom. So does Arcus's brother. Now, Arcus's Brother and himself look a looot alike, aside from the blue-grey-purpleness, and for a moment, Priestess-Lioness mistakes Arcy's brother for him. There's a "HAha no" moment, and the 'not really a fighter' lioness is confronted with the 'general-type' Lion from their enemy pride. Arcus's brother sees this as a major opportunity.
And where's Arcus during all of this? Practically being held back by his scruff by Kyonden. Remmember, messing in the affairs of Mortals is a big No-no.
And the outcome? I dunno yet. X3 *ish sooo evil, yus?*
The Higher Court- It's not really a court, it's mor of an assembly of all Ranking celestial beings. Kyonden is a rather low ranked spirit, responsible only for that single mountain range, where Arcus would ahve no rank at all, still being 'in training'.
Keeper of the Gates of Eternity- Oh yeah, it's a girl. I went there X3. Basically, one of the 3 highest celestial beings, she would control the final fate of the mortal dead and banished imortals. For someone of such high rank to speak directly to a lesser spirit is like...Epic. They'd have Lords who'd have Messengers who'd have MESSENGERS to do that. o.o
Hibbary's Info :
