For the latest contest: Mommy and Daddy.

I decided to take a different angle than most people: I decided to look at the characters who didn't really have parents, or who didn't really have parents in the functional sense. So I took Kovu: we don't know who his dad was, and let's face it, Zira was a terrible mother. So then I thought, what about when she died? And then I thought, I know loads of mothers who absolutely coddle and cherish their sons-in-laws.

And then I drew this...

This pic was originally created for one of Cat B's character contests, but I think it fits this contest perfectly too. (And it was created specifically for a contest, so I think its ok to use it again).

I've drawn Kiara coming across the paintings that Rafiki has done in his old tree of Kovu and Kiara herself (along with Simba's original painting of course). And so Kiara is wondering what it all means - how did her new friend Kovu end up in Rafiki's tree? Does Kovu hold a place with her in the Circle of Life?

Kiara gets a lot of bad press. But she had a pretty troubled childhood, with all the tension between Outlanders and Pridelanders, and not understanding the real fears behind Simba's determination to keep her away from "danger."

This is the first thing that came to mind.. and thus pen was put to paper, I'm afraid ^^

Scar: "....wait a minute.."
Zazu (possibly!): " Oh dearie me, too much prune juice again this morning!"

My entry for the Pivotal Moments contest.

Scar: "If YOU won't provide me with an heir, then maybe one of THEM will..."

Zira: "Smirk smirk."

Scar has found some prideless lionesses willing to follow him under his reign and brings them up to Pride Rock for the first time. (Yes, that is Zira, two random Outlanders and cub Nuka trailing behind).

Nala decides the time has come to bust a move and go find some leonine back up in the jungle.

My entry for the latest contest.

Based on Picasso's "Girl with Dark Hair" although in the case its more "Lion with Dark Mane." ^^

I think I'm traumatised for life after drawing this.. "wipes sweat from face*

Will never look at Kovu the same way again ^_^

For the latest contest. I haven't drawn them Steamboat Willie style, for example, I don't think there are really six million different ways to draw the characters - instead I have decided to concentrate on how the animators may have "coloured" the characters if the film had been made in black and white.

will be uploading a coloured version of this at some point!
