The coloured version of the Kovu sketch - wanted to add a background at first but finally decided to leave it like this - didn't even add a shadow on the "ground," which I would at least normally do.

I've given up on backgrounds recently!

I did a MUCH better version of this yesterday, and was about to upload it when my computer crashed. When I restarted my computer i could no longer open the image file because it had been damaged. *sigh* That is just so typical - I will not even tell you how long I spent on it because it will just depress me further.

Anyway, here is the second version.

Its Kovu, after the "fire is a killer" conversation with Simba. He is reflecting on all the lies Zira told him.

Ha! My first trade pic in ages... its about time I got these done. Sorry for the wait!
Anyway, this is my half of a trade with Thalassa.
Just Kovu. No decent background because I lost all my "grass" files when my computer crashed two days ago. Doh! Still, I thought I'd lost EVERYTHING, documents, pictures, photos, movies - so I count myself lucky that all that disappeared was a few grass images.

Im sure that everyone agrees that SP was the worst Lion King sequel. But I bet I'm not the only one who couldnt live without Kovu and Vitani..
update: just wanted 2 say that there are parts of SP i liked too, e.g. the animation sequence and song for We Are One and He Lives In You. What I cant stand is the rest of the animation - some of the original chars were redrawn AWFULLY and it was just too 'orange'. And the soundtrack was completely non-African - I mean, what was with the church bells?!

a not very good and more than a bit silly drawing of everyone's favourite Outlander . oh well. i know, there is no background - and the worst of it is that her bloody paws got chopped off by the scanner *sighs*

I was at the zoo the other day and I took loads of photos of the lions in different positions - the male was lying down at one point so I drew Kovu in the same position just to try it out - I need to learn how to draw lions lying down!

"Maybe there's a darkness inside me, too."

I think this scene where Kovu and Kiara discuss the Great Kings is a critical moment for Kovu's character development. He is torn between his loyalty to his mother and her plan for revenge, and his new love for Kiara and ultimately, life. This scene is one of the most heartfelt in SP & helps us to sympathise more with Kovu.

For me, the scene where Kiara, Timon and Pumbaa show Kovu how to have fun was one of the most sympathetic towards Kovu - imagine growing up your whole life and never knowing what it was like to have fun. This is one of the key moments when Kovu realises that there is more to life than Zira's teachings of revenge and war.

This is a rather angry Kovu, before he joined Simba's pride, obviously. (note the lack of scar on his left eye). isn't it rather symbolic that when Kovu is "bad" Kovu, he hasn't got a scar, and when he joins Simba's pride and becomes "good" Kovu, he HAS got a scar? So really, he is not destined to walk in Scar's pawprints at all. That's a good thing, really ^_^

Adult Vitani. God I hate adult Vitani. Why did they have to make her so hideous?? As a cub she has bags of potential to be a gorgeous lioness, despite her then "evilness". Although if you ask me, she was never really evil like Zira, possibly just misled like Kovu.
This is a crap picture, I know. >_< Will do a better one of her soon, how I reckon she SHOULD look!
