May 1st 2008 - Celebrating Tabatha's Move to Work at Disney World (May 6th 2008)


First, I would like to acknowledge the people who created the “Tabatha” icons you see above.

Well now, lets get started shall we. :)

My dear friend “Tabatha” who started out as a character of mine, is only 6 days away from arriving in Disney World to start work as a Canadian Cultural Rep. (Like me… only I have to wait 7 more months… And two days. LOL.)

So before I get into my Celebrating Tabatha speech, I thought I would post a video. Most people it seems still don’t realize why her and I are moving to Disney World to work. Everyone seems to think it has to do with art. But in fact it has NOTHING to do with art. Even though if we did wish to be Disney animators, working in the theme park is a great way to get your foot in the door, we are really just cast members in the theme park. So before another person asks me… or her, what we are going to be doing I thought I would share another more broad video of where exactly we will be working, and explain a little just before I get into the Tabatha talk. So here is my Youtube video of the month of May.

This video shows the place we will be working the best in a short amount of time. (So you people with slow computers can watch too.) In Epcot (one of the four theme parks in Disney World Florida. There is Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Studios/MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom) is a place called World Showcase. This is basically a place that allows guests to… well feel like they are walking through different countries around the world, and only take a few hours or so to do it. To help make it the most realistic as they could they get people to come work there on a one year contract in their countries area, selling toys and merchandise that has to do with their country, Serving your cultures food to guests or making crafts and playing with kids teaching them about your country. (Well and of course those countries that have rides or movies have a spot open for them as well.) This video shows all the countries, though it is a little older not much has changed at all. All those countries remain part of world showcase. What is even cooler about it is, they put all the people together into one of 4 complexes to live, so Tabatha and I will room with people from any one of these countries during our stay. (Anyway at the end of the video it ends off with the nice view of the fireworks that go off each night in the center of the lagoon that World Showcase Surrounds.)

CELEBRATING TABATHA


Anyway between now and May 18th this spot here will remain for Tabatha. Some of you are probably thinking “Timitu has gone crazy. Thinks one of her characters are going to Disney World to work.” Well yes and no. See like most of my characters Tabatha is based off a real person. And anyone who has read “Nora’s Story” knows the name of Tabatha. As you can probably guess, in real life Tabatha is my friend. I met her in college before I started making Nora’s Story. And yes, we are friends with Gee as well. Though as you can possibly guess, none of our real names are used. (Degz and Zee are the only ones closest as that is what we call them in real life.)

Well the two of us became friends in College studying Technical Theatre together. (That is the behind the scenes stuff. Like Lighting, Sound, Carp, Props, Stage Management, Special Effects… and of course Pyrotechnics.) We graduated and since then have both been looking for work. I discovered in July about the Disney thing. But was not till November or December 2007 that I started trying to see if Tabatha wanted to go. She finally decided that leaving her kitten for a year with her mom to, get away from it all and have a great time meeting people and gaining experience, and not see snow for a year was a good thing to try out. So we applied in December 2007 and then had our interview early in February 2008 in Toronto. It was just less then 2 weeks later that I got an e-mail telling me I got in to Disney World. Poor Tabatha was on the waiting list.

For the next two months Tabatha had to wait and wonder. And any time we talked (though it was always like walking on glass when we did,) I told her it was best to let it go, and start planning life in the summer. It was not till we had finally started talking about her re applying again next year and she had got her summer all planned out with work that she got the phone call she had waited for. April 9th Tabatha found out she would be leaving for Disney World on May 6th… not even a full month later. She got a job working in merchandise in the Canadian Pavilion. (I am working in the Food and Beverage so we will not work directly together.)

Anyway as you can probably all guess I am VERY happy for her. She has never experienced swimming in January or even seeing a outdoor pool open. Very few times, if at all, has she experienced having Christmas and wearing a t-shirt outside. And as far as I know she has never even seen a palm tree naturally growing in Real life. (Correct me if I am wrong there Tabatha.) So for someone who likes summer, she is certainly about to jump right into it. If you or your family is planning on going to Walt Disney World, and are going to spend a day in Epcot, go say hi to her. She is a pretty friendly person. And well it will be her job to be a friendly person. (Be sure to ask her about the igloos and dog sleds we have up here. LOL. Just be sure to take a picture of her reaction and send it to me. :P )

Well to end this off, I got a few links for anyone who is a fan of Tabatha, or just think this is all a neat idea to work at Disney World. Or just like Disney or Disney World in general… or are looking for a new online friend. LOL. :)

Tabatha (and Gee) Human vs. Character Video: This is pretty neat. Starts off with a bunch of Tabatha stuff. And then goes into Gee Stuff, and then them as humans interacting with other “characters” you might recognize the names of in my story. (More of these kinds of videos are found in my character section, listed by the characters that have them.)

Tabatha’s account on Here: Yes she has her own account on here. But don’t expect a lot till she gets settled in. She will have a busy month or so getting used to everything and meeting people and learning her way around. But once she gets settled in she might make some lion characters of her roommates and such. Plus I am going to TRY and talk her into posting a going away picture before she leaves. :)

Tabatha on DA: This will be a good place to watch her if you have an account on DA. She will be sure to post pictures around Disney World and her life there as time goes on, as well as lions and even other art she might do. (And be sure to keep an eye out in her scraps there too.)

Tabatha on LiveJournal: She is looking for some Live Journal Friends. So if you want to add her she will probably return the favour. Though she will be busy, I have made her promise she would at least keep her journal up to date with what is going on and her adventures in Disney World itself as a first time visitor and what live is like as a Disney Cast Member. Definitely keep your eye out May 6th or May 7th for news as she will be arriving and probably have a lot of new fun stuff to share. But till then she has a few posts that tell about the application process and the joy and excitement of getting in as a Walt Disney World Cast Member. (And I comment on all her Journals if I catch them, so you can also find my Disney Journal from there. While I have more in mine, hers is more exciting till I leave… December 2nd.)


So go check out Tabatha, say hi one more time before she is gone. Be one of the last people to get an icon from her before she leaves. (I think her icons end this weekend so ask soon.) I will keep all these links and my Tabatha stuff up till May 18th which is Timitu Day, and it will then be all Timitu stuff. Besides the video, which will stay as that till June 1st.

This is a very special SUPRISE picture for Tabatha. And a very big thank you to Killress, Charlie, Skyler Puma and BeeKay84 for their time and effort to draw their characters to add to this beach scene. All to help welcome my dear friend Tabatha to Florida to become a Walt Disney World Cast Member. I have been tracking her flight, and it has arrived safely in Orlando. This means in a few hours we will hopefully get to hear from Tabatha about her new home. Tabatha is in a Better Place Now.... Or will be soon.
LOL This is an inside joke between us. But I had to make this for her. As I am posting it Tabatha's flight is leaving to take her down to Orlando Florida to start work as a Walt Disney World Cast Member. After she waited for almost 2 months of being on the waiting list, her wish is finally coming true. :) Anyway hope you all like. And if you got the time come check out my "Artist's comments" box on my main page here for more about Tabatha and her job. It will only be on my page till May 18th, and is pretty interesting to any fans of mine or hers. :)

Tabatha wanted to lick someone too so I made this picture for her. Tabatha moves to Disney World to start work in 4 days from now. (May 6th) Come check out my "artist's comments" to find out more in my "Celebrating Tabatha." (Which will only be up till May 18th.)

Mufasa is mad at Levar. He never did like his brother's new friend. And perhaps for good reason if he knew what was to come he probably would have killed off Levar at this very moment.

I am still excited about my new job at Disney World. (I don't think that will EVER change.) And I am much happier my costume is much easier to draw then Tabatha's costume will be. Of course Levar cant work at Disney World, but if he did I would think he would enjoy working at Tower of Terror. :)

Well... only 217 more days (well closer to 216) but who's counting. :P

My first part of the thing for Silber. Due to a problem with the mini secret santa (with Disney Theme), I had to make this picture for them. Well probably did not HAVE to but since it really was my fault on it I could not say no. I wish I could have done full body. But the only reason my previous picture looks good at all is cause it was drawn a while ago. I have some stupid artist block with full body's at the moment. Hope it looks ok though.

Levar's Birthday.

It is my stuffed Levar's Birthday. Last Year on this day.. at this time I was in the middle of sewing is body. He was finished April 17th 2007 at 2am. (You can see the first picture made of him if you go back in my gallery to look.) Anyway today he got two presents (ya tomorrow is his birthday but I was going to the dollar store today.) I got him a Canadian Sweater for when I move to Disney World and bring him. And a friend gave him a pin for his blanket. So I got some pictures of him around my house today. (Stuffed Levar is a prop project made based on my character Levar. Who is not hard to find in my gallery. :) )

The new icons I am doing with Tabatha. This is a collab between us, our first real collab ever. And so this icon is to celebrate her getting the job as a Walt Disney Cast Member. (Starts May 6th... like 7 months before me. LOL.) We both have our sets up on the trading tree for thoese that want one last icon before she moves away to start her new life. (She is doing Female pridelander with Female outlander and Male Pridelander with Outlander female.)

She drew the character on the left, I drew the character on the right and put them together. Backgrounds are photos from Disney-Stock. She has lots of AMAZING photos of Disney World and such. If you like Disney World check out her page. http://disney-stock.deviantart.com/

CONGRATS TO ONE OF THE NEWEST DISNEY CAST MEMBER.

Tabatha found out the news yesterday. She is moving to Walt Disney World Florida to start work May 6th 2008. It is rather sudden news when there is people like me who are moving in December to start. She has never been to Disney World and never been to Florida, let alone living and working there. So big congrats to her. Yay I finished it. LOL.
Nora and Levar together. A clearer version of this can be found on DA once I can get it posted.
I was inspired by the song "Everytime We Touch" to create this picture. So for thoese that don't know the song, come to my page and in my Artist's comments, I have Timitu's Youtube Pick of the Month, and it happens to be the song in that Video. (Set to some great Disney Movies of Course.)
Hope you all like it. Took a while to finally get done but I am happy.

I thought I would show off my new icon with with some pretty special characters.
All were Disney World Applicants. The two boys were in our Canadian Interviews, and the girl was applying in the UK. The two boys are going to start working in June or July, and the girl has to re-apply, but I have high hopes she will make it when the UK has their interviews in June. :)

If you like these icons and want to take part in the Disney Collection that Tabatha (who is still on the waiting list :( ) and I are doing, (which if all goes well should be of 8 different Disney-ish Icons before I move down there) then start off your collection with icon number 1. (Tabatha is doing Pridelanders, I am doing the outlanders feel free to get one of each.)

This is a little WIP picture of the picture I am working on. I have to take a break for most of the day now as I got other things coming up today.

Those who have me on facebook will notice I put the full version of how the pic looks now (this is just cropped of Levar's face), as a little something special for my facebook fans. :) Anyone not on my facebook will have to wait till tonight if I get the chance to finish it.
