Why didn't I hear about Canon Days sooner? I would have gotten something in on time! I guess you could count this as a sort of "delayed" entry. Seriously, I need to draw more canon.

Also did this for the "Vitani as a cub" contest over on The Lion King Source. I did a lot of screenshot studying to try to get her face to look at least CLOSE to how she actually looks. It's harder than you think.

And don't ask me what the Chinese is doing there! I just felt like incorporating some calligraphy into a picture. It's supposed to say, "lioness cub." I know, so original. Probably got it wrong anyway.

He still dreams of her...

For those of you who don't know, this is my version of Kovu's father, Nyonda. I've written a story about him and Zira growing up together: it's on FanFiction.net somewhere. Haven't written the romance yet, but it's coming!

For the music contest.

Ever noticed that Zira's the most humanlike of the lion characters? She uses her arms WAY more than seems natural, especially in this song.

Tried a new shading method. I think it looks pretty nice.

EDIT: Holy Outlands, I placed fifth!!! I never thought I was going to place in a contest. THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who voted! *big group hug*

"Simba? Chumvi? What're you..."
"Shh."
...
"AAAAAIIIIIIII!!!"

Characters: Tojo (and his birds), Simba, Chumvi, Nala, Kula, and Tama. Yes, I did take a few liberties in changing the cubs' designs. I gave Chumvi dark ear rims so he'd blend with the other male cubs. (In the "Nala's Dare" picture without rims, the cubs are a bit older than here.) I also decided to make Tama have light toes because I like to see the dark toes as a rarer trait.

Speaking of Tama, why don't more people draw her? I think she's really cute, yet she's always getting neglected...

Tojo and his birdie minions...done in Sketcher. (Tojo is a character from a European comic called "The Orphaned Birds.") I wanted more birds flying around him, but that never happened. Oh well. It's cute.

Suddenly Vitani remembered why she had come. She stumbled back to the edge of the water, where a steady stream of bubbles was surfacing. And as she peered into the water, she barely saw a lion-sized shadow that was sinking fast.

Kiara. Her princess. Her sister-in-law. Her friend.

Without thinking, Zira's daughter plunged into the river.

What, did you think it was always magic between those two? (In my TLK III Scar is the one who takes a chunk out of Zira's ear.)

I am SO proud of this picture! I tried to make it as genuinely Disney-looking as I could. Yay, a background.

Simba and Nala out walking in the Pridelands at sunset. Too big for the scanner, so I had to take a photo of it and then touch it up with the computer. (I cheated a bit with the shadows and the sun XD)

"Don't you recognize me?"

In my TLK III, Zira has survived the river and returned to the Outlands, crushed by the thought that she has somehow failed Scar. Her former mate Nyonda has finally tracked her down, hoping to see her again after years apart. But she is in a bad mood and doesn't recognize him...yet...

I really like this picture! I mean, REALLY like. I tried shading and highlighting on separate layers from the main color, except with Nyonda's mane...maybe I should've done it there too...

According to my TLK III, all three of Zira's children had the same father, Nyonda. Zira and Nyonda loved each other very much, but they broke up after a huge argument when Nuka was a cub and Zira was pregnant with Vitani and Kovu. Zira went crazy over Scar after that, but Nyonda missed Zira with all his heart, hoping to reunite with her someday.

Done with colored pencils. Enjoy.

"But how can we be truly happy when our mother has just passed away?"

In my fanfic, "The Lion King III: Royal Family," this is the night after the two feuding prides rejoin. Kovu and Vitani are mourning their mother's death. Little do they know that Zira survived the flood...

I'm really proud of this picture! I colored the lines and the background looks halfway decent. Plus I think I captured the mood/setting well.

EDIT: I may remove the picture of Nuka with these two as cubs from the current relationship contest and replace it with this one, since I think it came out better. It shows both how close Vitani and Kovu are to each other and to their mother.

Prepare yourself for my version of Zira's story. *scary music*

This is Nyonda, Zira's ex and the father of all three children. When they broke up, Zira was pregnant with Vitani and Kovu and took the cub Nuka with her. Upon her arrival at the Pridelands, she fell madly in love with Scar. When Kovu was born with green eyes, it seemed all the more miraculous to the extent that King Scar himself noticed and took Kovu as his heir, considering making Zira his queen, though Simba came back before he could. But anyway, while Zira was obsessing over Scar in SP, Nyonda was desperately longing for his family.

I worked hard on this guy's design. Enjoy.

I can't believe myself. This is the first time I can remember that I've drawn Simba as a cub, and I used ABSOLUTELY NO REFERENCE, and it still came out beautiful! *faints*

I believe that Nuka could have loved his siblings, even if those moments were few and far between. So this is one of those rare loving times that you never see in the movie. I'll bite your tail off if you say ANYTHING about the background...

Sarabi looked up into the heavens. She had just run off, far from Pride Rock, away from Scar's new rule...and those hyenas. The stars twinkled down at her, almost reassuringly, but she was not consoled. "Oh, Mufasa...why now?"

her two closest in one day...no wonder she was so sad. just felt like drawing this, don't know why

This is a depressed, young adult Scar, feeling sorry for himself (as usual)

I at first made this to be right after he was first scarred and his name was changed, but realized later that he became "Scar" when he was just a cub. So you can interpret this however you like...maybe he's jealous because Mufasa found a girlfriend (Sarabi) and he didn't?
