These are some chars I've made for Lented's contest. The one on the left I've called Imari and the right one is Neo (names aren't concrete of course, I just didn't want to send them out into the world w/o names). Parents are Kovu+Kiara and Vitani+Kopa. Both cubs are in interchangeable--either one can have either sets of parents and still be believable.

This is gonna be Taji's new look. Before, he looked a bit too much like Simba for me, so I changed up a few things. I'm still working on the mane design--for some reason it's difficult for me to do mane designs, which is why I don't make a lot of male lions. But I like the color combo!

Yay for sketcher! I haven't been there in ages. ^v^

For the contest.
“No, mother!” Kiara stared long and hard into Zira’s hate-filled eyes. “Vitani’s right.”
Zira gasped. Kiara…the one she’d loved and trained and brought up…her own daughter…was turning against her? “No…” She whispered in disbelief. Rage bubbled and churned inside of her, threatening to spill over at any moment. All the more reason to attack Simba and take what is rightfully mine, she thought. He will pay.
I made Kiara's colors a little dull on purpose...I thought it would make her a little more outlanderish.
Thanks muchly to Choii for the outline tutorial...it totally sped up the lineart process and saved my mousing hand. Kudos to jwalraven also, for the color reference for Zira. C3

As the sun began to slowly rise over the eastern horizon, it seemed the pride's hope was rising as well. Though their beloved home was still a barren wasteland, Scar was gone, and the hyenas were defeated.
"I can't believe it's finally over..." Nala's emotions swelled and choked out the words as the realization struck her. She couldn't control the stream of tears that came like a benediction down her face, as though it washed the years of pain and devastation, the torture she'd endured seeing her family--and her childhood--being slowly and mercilessly ripped apart and crushed into the ground.
Simba gently nuzzled her. "Yes...it is over..."

Random, useless note you don't have to read:
Ya know, I've read a lot about Nala's genealogy, or rather the speculation. I understand that the LK directors stated that it was either Scar or Mufasa. If given the choice, it would be nicer if Scar was her father, just for the grossness factor of them being so closely related to be toned down a bit. I imagine most would say Nala's dad is a rogue. But no one stopped to really consider this important detail.
It'd be interesting if it was Ni. It would make a lot more sense. But its all speculation. My theory? Nala was concieved......by the Force! haha

I decided to research some of the other african cats, not just the big ones, and came up with some interesting subjects. The caracal, for example, has been done before, obviously, but for good reason. You just don't hear about caracals very much, or any other african cats but cheetahs, leopards and lions. At first I wasn't sure I liked them. They're short, stocky, and their tails are kind of thick and funny looking, like a mixture between a lynx's and a cheetah's. But in the end I liked how this drawing came out--and the tail is certainly easier than drawing a skinny tail with a puff at the end! :D
I may do more drawings that include other "little" cats.

“…I’m sorry I had to be the one to tell you…” Taji could feel his sister's anger and confusion rising.
“L…leave Pride Rock?” stammered Nkili in incredulity. She gave him a steely gaze that demanded answers, but her brother’s only rejoinder was a painful wince as he avoided her searching gaze. She exhaled sharply, trying to keep back tears. How could their grandfather want them to leave? They were his family. They were both Simba's grandchildren! Suddenly, a terrible thought nagged persistently in her mind. Was he afraid that their father, Kovu, would take over the pride?

As Davu looked out from his rock perch, he saw the two lions playing off in the distance, and a curved scowl emerged on his face as he snorted in digust. He didn't like how his younger sister, Aiyana, was spending so much time with that interloper cub, however lost and lonely he was. He knew that someday, that cub would grow into a full grown lion, and Davu could vaguely see the threat to his rule growing on the horizon...

Ok....so I was watching episode 5 and looking at a site for Kovu, and I had to draw this. XD

The site I was looking at talked about how Kovu was originally planned to be Scar's son...but, most likely to avoid disturbing family issues, it was changed.

I used a reference pic for Wall-E...I thought he'd be harder to draw, but I actually found it easier than drawing a lion. He's basically just a box with a head--no expressions involved (yay!)
