Apparently Zira never taught adolescent Vitani not to play with her food...

Quick pic in Sketcher. Anyone else think Vitani would have been awesome as Scar's heir in SP? Of course, then the love story would have been a touch different. XD

This doesn't really have much value as a storytelling picture; I don't count it as ever happening in my canon spin-off stories--Zira and Chumvi had a little falling-out and Chumvi doesn't see Kovu as an adult until after SP.

The only reason I drew this was to work on adult Chumvi's design a bit more in relation to Kovu's (I'm much happer with this than my last pic). Kovu and Zira are very heavily reffed in order for my facial comparisons to be as accurate as possible. I'm really quite pleased with the result. :)

A scene from my canon spin-off: Zira and the outlanders have just been exiled from the Pridelands, and their one-time ally Chumvi drops by, not-too-subtly trying to get himself installed as the lead lion of the pride. Zira is having none of it, of course, especially since Chumvi left Scar to face Simba alone some time back. He may have fathered one of Zira's cubs, but that certainly doesn't give him the right to be co-leader of her small pride...

If the father of Zira's cubs could not be Scar, there were a couple of other, younger lions in the pride who could fit the role. And one of them was even sympathetic to Scar's cause: a young adult named Chumvi.

What? I'm sure this has occurred to other people besides me. And I think I'm going to make this my own version of canon, and cut out the lion I previously had as Kovu's father. Because come on, Chumvi is a perfect fit. Sure, that makes Zira a bit of a cougar (ha ha, funny funny) but if Scar's going to go chasing after Nala she might as well look at getting her own young lover. XD

Looks like Tojo's son Kennen likes his birdies too!

Done in Sketcher. Design change: Kennen now has a pink nose, because both his parents do and I figured it made sense (if you can't guess who his mother is, shame on you). I wimped out on the bg because reset was coming, but I like how the bird turned out. It's an African crowned eagle.

I don't think Simba and Chumvi ever got along well, and after Simba banished Scar's followers, things didn't improve. (Chumvi's mate was an outlander; the adolescent in the pic is their son, whom I want to adopt.)

Somehow I get the feeling that Chumvi was pretty annoying as a cub, so it seems only fitting that his son would take after him. ^^

All in Sketcher. The cub is an adorable adoptable up by Mizan. I lightened his color a bit and would probably change his name. He was created as a potential son to Chumvi and I think that would fit in so well to my canon spin-off; his mother would likely be an outlander to match his coloring.

The two cubs gleefully scuffled in the ashy dirt, certain that they wouldn't be discovered in this out-of-the-way, burnt meadow. Until...

"There are safer places to play, you know," a strange voice pleasantly said.

Kiara and Kovu stared at the stranger, a young male lion who smiled at them. He didn't appear to be menacing, and Kiara was curious. She had never seen a white lion before.

See, I can be nice when I feel like it. ^^ In my version of canon, Mheetu leaves the pride during Scar's reign and grows up as a rogue.

I played "Mad Libs" in Sketcher with Cerb, and two of her suggestions were {Blue, Run, Mufasa} and {Orange, Kill, Sarabi} so I sort of combined the two.

When at last Sarabi laid down for the final time, Mufasa's spirit was there to guide her home.

Now we all know how girls like to play with their hair...and Vitani has such glorious bangs! Dotty and Spotty beautified her, and now Scruffy is awarding the "Best in Show" ribbon.

The two young lionesses were taking a brief pause in their search for game in the recovering Pridelands when suddenly Tama gasped. "It can't be..." Nala quickly turned her head and blinked at the sight of a male lion standing a short distance away. She understood Tama's shock--the stranger bore an uncanny resemblance to the dark usurper Scar. But this lion was younger, healthier...and on his face was a pleasant, curious expression that would have been utterly alien on Scar's.

Rhadi, born in lands far away, comes to the Pridelands in search of his father. Little does he know that he is a son of the corrupt ruler Scar, and may not receive a warm welcome. Skr/PS again! Tama is canon from a comic and Rhadi is an adopted char.

I thought it would be fun to cartoon-ize the picture I just uploaded RealisticLionHarrierHawk.jpg I don't think Tojo's birds grew up to be actual harrier hawks, but I really do like whoever's idea it was that his birds grew up to be raptors of some kind (was it Timali/tipu's?). Very cool.

Zazu glanced at the sun. "Almost two o'clock!" he gasped. "I must be off."

As soon as he had flown away, Jambo and Kwaheri ran up to Kopa.

"Listen up, zero in, and get this!" said Jambo. "We both dare you to catch us!"

"You're on!" said Kopa.

"Hello!" said Jambo.

"Good-bye!" said Kwaheri.

They bounded away over the uneven ground. Kopa ran as fast as he could, but he couldn't catch them. He lowered his head and concentrated on running faster.

The grass gave way to rocks, but Kopa kept running. Then the rocks became wet and slick. Kopa's claws couldn't grip them. He skidded.

This is a parallel to my Malka/Radhi picture: a similar scene, a generation later. These two guys are Tojo's son Kennen and Simba's son Etana. They buddy up because they are both younger siblings of teens who dismiss them (Konya and Kiara), though they have a bit of a falling-out when they get older.

I'll take good care of him. :) I'd like to change his name just a bit to "Rodi" if that's okay, meaning "talebearer". That's sort of the role I'm planning for him right now. Thanks again!

Kopa sighed again. "I know."

"Well," said Zazu, "I'm on my way back to Pride Rock to deliver a report to your father. A most interesting report. The leopards will be sending us two ambassadors this year instead of one." Kopa tried to hide a yawn behind a furry paw.

"Ahem-well, I don't suppose that interests you yet," Zazu went on. "The reason I've stopped by is to warn you about the gorge. You musn't get any closer to it. The water is high after yesterday's rain. And the rocks are slippery. Do you understand?"

"All right! Way to go! Right on!" said Kwaheri. "Now I've got a dare for Kopa. See that pointed rock over there? I dare you to jump off it."

"Just watch me!" said Kopa.

He dashed to the rock and clambered up. From the top, the ground seemed far away. But it was covered with grass.

"Look out below!" Kopa yelled as he jumped.

He landed on all fours and heard Jambo and Kwaheri cheering behind him. Then he heard the flapping of wings.

"Aw, phooey!" he muttered, looking up. "It's the flying pest!"

"I beg your pardon," said the hornbill, hovering above him. "What did you say?"

Kopa sighed. "Nothing, Zazu."

"Okay, okay," said Kopa. He shook the grass off his back. "Why don't the two of you just drop it?"

"Hey, catch this," said Jambo. "Let's play I-dare-you."

"Cool, fab, outta sight!" said Kwaheri.

"You can say that again!" said Kopa.

"Sure can," said Kwaheri. "Cool--"

"Give it a rest," said Kopa. "I've got the first dare. I dare Jambo to swing from that short acacia tree to that tall one."

"Hakuna matata, no problem, no big deal," Jambo said. He scrambled over the grass and climbed the tree. Dangling from a branch with one long arm, he swung back and forth. When he was swinging high enough, he let go of the branch, flew through the air, and grabbed a limb of the taller tree.

Kopa scampered through the trees behind his monkey friends Jambo and Kwaheri.

"I'll be the bravest of the brave!" Kopa shouted. He looked at Jambo and Kwaheri to make sure they were listening to him.

KERFLUMP! Kopa tripped over a branch and fell to the ground.

Jambo and Kwaheri burst out laughing. "What a gas! What a goof! What a riot!" said Jambo.

"Tickles my ribs, splits my sides, flips my wig!" Kwaheri said. "Can you believe he's going to be the Lion King someday?"

"Like his father, Simba!" said Jambo. "That's a scream, a hoot, and a howler!"

Yeah, so I decided to enter the contest (went into days-long approval, so it's a late entry). But I've been wanting to do this pairing for a while. So what if they're a generation apart...Vitani and Tojo are so cuuute together! (Plus this would not be at all weird in real life. ;) )

Finally got around to making a reference sheet for Teshi. Teshi is of the same generation as Rovias, one of the cubs Scar sired during his reign. He was actually adopted from tihara, who adopted him from Kallico, but only as a head design so I could create his body. I also added the dark eartips.

He looks innocent, but he's a sneaky guy. ;)

My adult version of Malka, a canon character from the comic "Simba's New Brother". I tried to make this design a little different from the others out there I've seen, but borrowed ideas. Akril's version of adult Malka seems to be the most widely accepted, so I made my version enough like it to be recognizable.

I also have a project in process creating my own character sheets for other obscure canon characters. I'll start uploading them soon.

My first pic with Sarabi! This is before the end of TLK, but after Simba returns.

The cub she's holding is her and Scar's (he did take over the pride, after all) and Simba is none too pleased about it. But she refuses to see her son any differently because of who his father was.
