Jicho, recently adopted from DareRed. He was created by Poonie in the same adoption batch as Leto, so I snatched him up.

Jicho (or "Matrix-Kitty", as my brother has dubbed him) is Leto's twin and more evil counterpart spirit that is believed to control the darker sides of wild cats.

"Your father and his spawn are in no danger from me, young sister. This pride will die without new cubs. What will the Panther brood rule over, when there are only cringing, fleabitten old lions who are no longer black but gray with age left to follow? My cub will be born to live under that line's god-complex, don't you fear. It will pose no threat to you Panthers."

Pantera confronts her older half-sister about her pregnancy, because Ketsu's father is supposed to be subordinate to Panther, Pantera's father, in the hierarchy of the pride.

"In the forest my pride feared a black panther, and when I was born, they wondered if I was somehow possessed, controlled by her rumored powers. When I grew old enough, outcast by my pride, I sought out this creature.

"She was no panther. Her name was Sauda, and she was a melanistic lion, same as you and me. She taught me the secret arts, the means of creating markings as clear and bright as moonlight to contrast with our dark skins.

"That is how I became what I am now, Imani. And I can teach you, if you are willing to learn...the same way that Sauda taught me."

Adoption submission for Kesi Legend. I would love for her to fit into the story of my melanists as Moon's mentor.

Surprise for Bonebreaker. It's the two characters I adopted when I first started my melanistic pride of lions, Ravenstorm and Taaj. Together with Blitz and Jaeger they were the first four members of the pride!

So I finally mapped out the general family trees for my melanistic lion pride. Mostly for my use. ;)

The pride began with 4 black lions. Trees are organized by female ancestor, and I also have a small tree for other ties. Strata represent generations. Gens like "G1b" are half-gens, or those who are teens when G1 lions are adults and G2 ones are cubs. "=" means mating pair, and the vertical lines lead to their cub(s). The notation "NM" means a non-melanistic lion, not part of the pride. "HM" means a halfmel, or cubs of melanists and non- or partial-melanists.

All of the members of the Melanist Pride are on these trees except for Angel (G4) and Moon (G3) who have no blood or mating relationships to the rest of the pride.

Brothers offered by Manic that I want to adopt. I would rename Demon "Zimwi" (Swahili for demon) and Ash "Jivu" (Swahili for Ash) just to fit them in with the story, but I will keep Ukali's name, because I'm planning to have him be the father of one of my characters, Kalliel.

So, a pencil drawing of Zimwi, Jivu, and Ukali (if I get them). Zimwi is disgusted with his younger brothers.

I want to adopt two of the lions in this picture from Lovely Wolves (my goodness, I sure do like her adoptables lately!) to go with my melanistic lion pride. So I thought it would be nice to do a smaller group pic of some pride members along with them.

The adoptable Jolt is the young male on the bottom talking to Imani. The other adoptable, Sami, would not be adopted to be a pride member, but rather an outsider who prefers solitude and only sometimes stops by to watch the melanists. He's the lion on the outcropping. The other lions in the picture are my characters: Krea (lighter lioness), Ravenstorm (the male) and Pantera.

I would really like your two adoptables, Lovely Wolves! Please? (And sorry for grovelling again so soon!)

I've been thinking of designing a white character to contrast with my black melanistic pride for a while now, but yesterday I saw Pink Panthera has this beautiful white lioness called La¿la up for adoption. If I got her, she would probably end up with my character Blitz as her boyfriend/mate.

Sheet for Dresden, one of a litter of three cubs that Jaeger, leader of the melanists, had with a normally-colored lioness. Dresden turned out mostly melanist. He and his siblings are teased quite a bit by the other cubs of the pride. Dresden is very shy and rather quiet, preferring to stay out of the way. He just found out that his brother, who turned out more normal than melanistic, would be cast out of the pride when he comes of age, and Dresden is thinking about joining him.

Three black cubs I adopted this year. Many animal shelters across the U.S. will not adopt out black cats on Halloween. They fear that they will be used in satanic rituals. However, because of this thousands of black cats' chances of adoption are eliminated at the time when they are most popular with adopters.

First time ever doing a massive group picture! Eight characters in this one(!)--it's part of my pride of melanistic lions. The two cubs and darker lioness in the back are not mine (yet); I hope to adopt them. [Update: cheetahspot and Fluffybunny let me have the two cubs! I still hope to get Pantera (the lioness) from Poonie.]

Krea and Imani were contest winners(made by Ereska and cla545) while Taaj was adopted from Bonebreaker.
