African Messengers

It is a colorless, male Grant's gazelle character, unnamed. The concept behind it is that white animals could be present in our world as messengers of the creator. I chose a gazelle because I need more practice drawing them. XD

Make kitty and riku cubs!!

Yeah, so this little boy strongly takes after his father, but has markings similar to his mother's, as well as bicolored golden and brown hair. Hope you like him, Suka!

For Nakitus's Contest:
Bengal/White Tiger Cub

The idea of this contest, I believe, was to create a cub as a result of an orange tiger/white tiger pairing (the species Bengal can be white or orange, btw).

White tigers (or chinchilla tigers) have a recessive gene that alters their pigment. When they mate with orange tigers, a number of different coat colors can happen depending on the genes the orange tiger carries. One of these genetic combinations that I find fascinating is the "Golden Tabby" color variation (aka "Golden Bengal" or "Strawberry"). This page has great info about it: tabby2.html

So naturally I designed a golden tabby tiger cub for the contest. Could be male or female. :)

For Rainbow Fountains' Contest:
Male Character Needed!

As I adopted the handsome Tayu from her, I felt it was only fair that I design her a new character in return (if she wants him, that is).

This fella was inspired by realism, really. He's of average build with a wavy mane that's almost curly (and bicolored, too). All of his colors are natural, very savannah-and-sand palette, except for his grass-green eyes. I like him. *mutters about snatching him away for myself* Anyway, here he is! Nature-boy!

I Want A Hyena!

Pretty decent for my first hyena without reference, I think. Anyway, this girl has seen a few scraps in her day, leading to a couple scars, a torn ear, and one damaged eye that she can just barely see with. Has ragged-shaped spots and a light-colored mane and tail.

Logo

Basically an S and D, stylized, S as a horse because she has a two-horse stable and helps kids learn to ride, D as a racetrack-ish thing. Stars are because she's a fan of Stargate SG-1. Done in blue shades with a transparent bg - can be copied and resized (smaller!) to work with pictures. Hope you like it!

Pay no attention to the thumbnail - transparents always look crappy in the thumbnails. View it as the full pic. :)

For Kash's Contest:
TLKFAA-Friendly Vexin

The challenge was to modify a species of Kash's to be acceptable here at TLKFAA. Here's the original Vexin:

Changes were basically to make it a feline species rather than canine, because "created big-cat-like species" are allowed under the guidelines. Most of the things that made a vexin a vexin are the same--strong forelegs, large ears, thick mane. The eye in particular I wanted to keep as close to original as possible because it looks so cool. Main alterations are in body structure, such as muzzle, paws, and tail shape.

This girl is just out of adolescence, and still feels like one of the kids. She often plays with the cubs in the pride, and scoffs at acting her own age. She's slow to mind and prefers games to lying in the sun.

I thought that her idea of the species was too cool, so I had to make one. He's a lanaris cub! Doesn't have a name. He's unusual because his coloring is the "golden tabby" variation rarely found in tigers.

*Nostalgia*

I was a huge Pokemon fan, back in the good ol' days when the Red/Blue versions were brand new--even got into the cards for a while--but lost interest when the Game Boy Color became obsolete and the new games didn't come on it anymore. But while I can't keep track of the umpteen-hundred Pokemon these days, I remember enough to enter a contest lionizing them. (I've seen the Project thread, and it's pretty cool, but I'll think I'll keep my distance.)

Just a funny little thing inspired by the "Back in Time" contest, don't know if I'm going to enter it or not yet. It's my first colored pencil drawing in my gallery, just a fun little piece that I tried to make really cartoony and bright-colored.

It's the famous TLK beginning, except all of the animals are kids! Including Rafiki (I personally think he used to have blond hair)! Aren't they cute?

This one's name is Bahati, which means "my luck is good" in Swahili. He's mostly muted browns, with a mouse-gray mane and tail tuft. I'd like to keep this character if he doesn't win.

He's a cross between a lion and a Knysna Lourie (type of African bird; see a pic here: BBC-KnysnaLourie-t.gif ) so I don't know what I would call him, a Liona Lourie? Or just a lird (lion-bird)? Whatever. It's cool.

Wasn't quite sure what was wanted, so I did two playing and two sleeping--mostly because I needed to practice new poses that I haven't before. I might end up coloring this template myself one of these days...I like it.

Valkie and Colca's cub
UPDATE: Hurray! I won!!

I decided to use Valkira's pink coloring on this cub (it's a girl, of course). Also used the mother's blue for accents and the flower symbol on the cheek. From Colca came the beige and gray colors of the cub, as well as the pretty green eyes and the nose/ear color. I added an earring and a couple of tail rings to finish.

Also used a new method on this pic--hardly any black lines, they were altered.

Just a quick little sketch of a cross between a baby grizzly bear and a tiger cub...I guess it turned out okay. I call it a "grizger" (hehe). I would name him Walnut because that's the color he is.

Design Echo and Jasiri's Daughter

She was drawn as a young adult because I felt like trying out a new position, then scanned in and edited in Paint. Has the bright colors of her parents, because I liked the idea of a rainbow daughter, although blue is the dominant color.

Silverwind--you are welcome to keep this character, either as Jahani or another sibling or just some random lion :) because I won't be able to find time to use her.

For Splodge's Serval Design Contest.

This female's name is Asterra. She is shy and often reserved, preferring to listen to conversations rather than actually participate. Often her observations lead her to notice things the rest of the pack doesn't, and she brings them to the attention of the leader. Therefore Asterra has a fairly high status in the pack, even though she doesn't say much.

She has a special star marking in the middle of her forehead.
