Just a brief hello from self-imposed exile!

I probably won't be posting much anymore. I have a few pictures to finish once I get my commissions and stuff done, but I may pretty much throw the towel in. I'll still hang around to comment and stuff.

Loooooooong overdue gift picture for Olley_RRR, who is not only an awesome artist, but has been a great friend to me and and overall swell person to have the pleasure to talk to.

Sooo here's Tazama, giving her crazy ole' Epik the ultimate gift of friendship- The Lovebird. Awww. Nobody knows friendship better than a lovebird. :D

I was about to throw out an old husk of a sketchbook, but I looked at the back cover and finally remembered this old ink doodle of Nuka I really liked. The combo of the ink pen I was using and the texture of the cardboard had a really neat effect.

I was just going to scan and put this in the sketches, but I finally went to the front page this month and saw Bug's art and got inspired. So I took out my screen and multiply layers and did this. Looks pretty keen to me; reminds me of marker work. I may do more- lord knows I need to do SOMETHING with the backs of my sketchbooks. :D

Character refrences

I don't usually look at the contests, but back when I started this I had some free time to spend on personal art and I saw Lucky's African Species contest was a BIRD. Well...how do you expect me to resist, especially one with such vibrant colours? So here's a concept of a little Malachite Kingfisher guy. No name yet, I'm horrible with names.

I really like this style of colouring I've been using lately. Reminds me of my childhood cartoons. <3 So I ended up really simplifying the markings as if they were required to be easy to animate. (They have pretty crest feathers!)

I hope this gets approved in time! Now I see why Auto Approval is so neat...

I LEEEEEEEEVE!!

It's good to do art of my favourite characters. Nuka's smile here makes me happy. Nuka makes me happy. He lives forever in my mind as one of my favourite doofy, clumsy, misunderstood and mistreated characters.

And yes, I really have a hard time leaving things backgroundless now.

This is actually the second one I did- but it's the biggest and I like it the best. I've been meaning to do giftart for Audrey and her Vivi for the longest time, so I used this as an excuse to. X)

I got a calligraphic ink pen, so I decided to practice I would maul- I mean do gift art of other people's characters!

Kala was my first victim. (I was supposed to be digi-inking her commission while I was doing this XD). Yeah, you can tell this was my first one, alright. XD I didn't bother with her markings. I get shy about markings when I'm just doing ink drawings. :x

I dunno what's up with this Simba-looking cub, but heck, I find him insanely cute. I may fix whatever's up with his neck and body and ink him, too so you folks can have fun with him. Who can resist that widdle face? X)

I found this one by surprise. I love this one; cause despite the fact that it's done in my weird style with no references, the fact is, no matter how you dice it, it's Simba. You can just tell it's that little bratty JTT cub. :D

Another candidate for inking and inclusion for the Colouring Cave.

I've figured out how to use the Channels thing in Photoshop to get rid of all the colours I don't want. For example, this was done on GREEN PAPER. Hly carp.

I love Sarabi. I've been doodling her so much. I may inku this and put it in the Colouring Cave if anybody's interested. :3

Another small upload, sorry. Finally finished my sprite for teh Quill- it's Dina drawing. :) Quite a tough sprite for me to do since it included lots of REAL animation- but it turned out well in my book considering. Quill's happy, so I am, too. :)

Told ya I'd colour that little sketch.

This is the full size- it was strange yet refreshing for me to colour something that WASN'T 300 DPI (my normal working size). I'm uploading mainly because all my beautiful shading didn't show up in the LiveJournal icon. So here it is!

In the early days of her husband's rule, Sarabi fostered a fear that Mufasa would be so consumed with his kingship he wouldn't have time for her. While their new duties -did- consume them, they found time late at nights, under the watchful eyes of the Great Kings, to confide with each other. It was not the trials and tribulations of ruling and keeping balance of such a huge land that troubled him most- it was fears for his own brother- a lion that had already estranged himself from the pride- especially the newly minted royal couple.

"We've lost a pride member, Sarabi; not from a bloody battle or a hunting accident- but because he hated me- his own brother. What have I done, Sarabi? Just...what could I have done differently?”

Oh nos! Another sprite!

Shane for Ariel. Sorry the colours make it dark to see what she's actually DOING, but I did the best I could with the colours I was given to work with. It looks much better on darker backgrounds. Stupid colour theory.

There are a lot of frames on this. Yet the filesize is still tiny. :o

Had no idea where to put this. This is unshaded, has no background, and is messy, so in my sketches it goes.

This is my rendition of an adult Malka, a cub who appears in a TLK comic called "Simba's New Brother". He's got EAR TUFTS. And a mane tuft. I agreed with some other folk that he'd have even more scruff as an adult, so in following Leopard's suggestions on Lilymud I gave him elbow tufts and a slight beard. Mostly, though, this is based on Akril's idea for him. :3

Although Nuka was proud to finally have caught his own tail, his father did not share his same enthusiasm.

Y'all should know by now I believe Nuka's Scar's son. What I'm not sure of is whether or not Scar ENJOYS this relationship. In this picture, it seems like he doesn't. Aw well. But who can resist that floppy awkward cubby Nuka? Jeeze what I'd do for a good Nuka plush. ^.^

I just recently (a few months ago) got into the art of sprite making. It's fun! I'm taking some sprite commissions to pay for web stuff, so here's a commissioned sprite of Tus. She's got long hair. :D

If you want one and can pay, email me or somethin'. I don't know how long I'll be doing these, but I AM going to college soon so it can't be too long. :o

Since I know y'all wanted to see this since I posted that picture of Mufasa, here it is. Nala discovers the danger that lurks whenever you hang out with boys. ;)

First Simba and Nala to my gallery, I think. :o Sad. Simba looks like something Kala would draw...which is a good thing, 'cause Kala pwns. Hopefully they're recongizable. o.o
