When Simba was very young, just old enough to talk and walk, he was very adventurous. While Nala was having her baths, he would sneak off, to the far side of Pride Rock. He sat on a boulder and stared out into the savannah. A ball of dust was heading straight for him! He stood his ground. Suddenly his eye was caught by a beautiful butterfly. He put paws onto it, catching it without killing it. The ball of dust began to slow and a cheetah flew out of it, and landed beside the Prince.“Hey you caught the butterfly! I've been chasing that thing everywhere!” She growled gently.
“Yeah? I was just sitting here, and I saw him all alone, poor lil’ fella’!” “My name is Tari.” “Hi, I’m Simba, FUTURE King!”

The arid Pride Lands, now under the cruel command of Scar was dying quickly. A young cub, named Mheetu, who had only just escaped the evil, grappling grasp of Scar, was wondering aimlessly over the deserted Pride Land Hunting Grounds. Abruptly Mheetu noticed a grey-ish figure blurring come into view. It was a rogue male, maybe the one reported the other day, which the hyenas had chased off? He seemed to have freshly made scars on his back and ear, yet his fur seemed un- touched. He seemed well fed; maybe he could help save Nala and Sarafina, and all the other lions! The cub slowly approached, and then suddenly noticed blood traces on the male’s paws and muzzle. Mheetu went to run, but the male had spotted him.
