Zira paused. About to wake the trio for their morning run and training session, she hesitated for a moment, peering at the sleeping figures.
She passed them by. Perhaps a few minutes more wouldn't hurt.

You know how you hold onto something for so long, promising that you'll finish it, but after awhile you just get so sick of it you just can't? That's the reason that this is a sketch. Again, though, if you'd really love to see it completed, I'm happy to let you work on it.
If you haven't figured out just yet, yes, I am incredibly lazy.

"I don't know, Dad, I guess I'm just not really that interested..." the cub said, sighing. He stepped nimbly over the large crack and walked toward the path down Pride Rock, where his mother and friends were.
Kovu squinted in confusion and rising frustration. This land was to be his son's! He would be a great, powerful, mighty king, and he ran off to play! How DARE he?

I doubt Kovu would have the patience or the ability to relate to a "real" cubhood (as opposed to years of training) necessary for handling his own cubs.

Whereas I feel that Kiara, were she male, would have had a slightly different upbringing (and wouldn't be constantly described as being "headstrong" but instead "confident" or something with a better connotation than "headstrong", and she'd probably have a much bigger role than simply the lion who falls in love and might actually have some significant character development instead of remaining an entirely static character throughout the whole film - insteresting how the two male characters change drastically and show some significant character changes whereas the two main females don't, and only vitani, a minor female, changes - but, that's just my opinion, and soapbox stand) I still feel she might have the same general happy personality.

"But he's WRONG! Even I know that there's no way that Mufasa would have-"
"Silence!" roared Zira, as Nala crouched lower, subconciously moving into a more defensive stance. "He is your king! No one questions the king, especially not silly little cubs who THINK they know everything!"
"But that's not-"
Zira snarled, and Nala's mouth snapped shut.

Years later, as Zira bristled in rage over her exile, Nala looked down at her without pity.
"And I could've thought it was you who said to never question the king..." she drawled.
"This one is a murderous theif who steals the throne from the rightful-"
"Don't speak like that, little cub, when you know NOTHING."

I liked this so much as a sketch I couldn't bear to harm it by trying to color it.

Sometimes pictures demand coloring in order to be satisfied, and other times they don't. Often I feel more like a pencil-artist rather than a computer-colored one, because often I'm content with a picture, or at least can't really imagine what it would look like colored. Is it better for me to stop when I feel a picture is "complete", or should I try to work on my program-related artistic skills?

I can't remember what the situation was, but she-Kovu was talking to Kiara about something, and Kiara was responding in a way that was cute but confused she-Kovu.

Here's the sketch, for comparison. I must say, I love the head especially, because it just looks so SOLID, so 3D. I don't often feel I get that kind of quality, and so I really like the head.

"As you wish, your majesty..." the lioness drawled as she left. Scar bristled at the tone and implied insult. Some of the lionesses were beginning to forget their place, and it worried him.

Kiniro wanted a closeup of one of the sketches I uploaded earlier, so here it is, along with the "story" that was attached to it.

This one's old, but I still like it. By old, I mean a few months old.

I had planned on working on this in Photoshop, but never really felt the urge because I always liked it as it was; it seems complete, finished.

I don't think I started with two specific characters in mind, but in a way I could see the infamous brothers being these two.

A project I'm thinking of doing: a study of adult Vitani and "my" adult Vitani, detailing the differences between them and why I opted to have them, as Vitani is the sole character that I intentionally draw differently.

Quick poll: do you like seeing sketches (and I don't mean sketches to colored pictures, but only sketches) or do you think that they're not as good/attractive as colored pictures? If you chose the latter, would you then prefer fewer sketches be uploaded, or just more of each?
Another question: do you want to see more sketches to completed pictures? Or do you think of them as unnecessary?

As for the actual sketch; I was going to have Simba talking to his father's ghost, but I lost interest.

Two attempts at semi-realistic meerkats.
No reference - in fact, I never use references unless explicitly stated. I just really don't like the idea of using them, though I feel it's fine for other artists to, I just don't feel comfortable letting myself do it.

I sprained my thumb, otherwise I'd color this, but I didn't really like either pose, so I don't know if I will color this.
I know that they're ridiculously out of character here but....I kind of like the situation, anyway.

Doodling with a pen isn't fun; no eraser.
On a side note, yes, I do plan on coloring more pictures. I've about 50 or so waiting to be colored. Trust me when I say that it's only indecision that slows me down.

Ever since I was reintroduced to the pairing Vitani x Kiara (not that I'm mentioning any names, Kahllynn) I've been drawing them a lot more often (this is just the tip of the iceberg).
I wonder why Vitani's adult design changed so often. Perhaps she was one of a group of triplets? That would be beyond awesome.

Kahllynn's most recent picture prompted me to upload this sketch; though the pairing is the same for both, my little drabble is set after the union of the two prides, with Kiara's attention drifting away from Kovu to land on another, rather than have Vitani meet her first.
I don't know if I'll color this; I never really liked the poses.

One thing that I really liked about the TLK films is the theme of responsibility; both Simba and then Kiara do something wrong and then are given a good talking to.
What I especially loved was that after the talk about responsibility and the punishment of dissapointment, both parents then displayed their love for their cub, showing that they were punishing them out of love. I really liked that that was shown.
Anyways, Simba's asking Mufasa if he'll forgive him for something he's done wrong.

Having lost her "mother" (not much of one), I should think that Vitani would either become a loner in Simba's pride or latch on to someone. I could see the aging Sarafina, remembering when Nala was young, taking Vitani under her wing (paw?).
Young Vitani had a lot of eagerness in the film; maybe with Sarafina's mothering she might blossom into a more open and loving and therefore contributing member of Simba's pride?

Simba, watching his daughter with pride. Where? Somewhere off camera (or off picture?). What's he saying? Who knows? Why did I not color this? Too lazy. :P
I had wanted to put Nala beside him, but she wasn't looking too nice, so I got rid of her.
