Then Paste- Edit -> Paste

Your square should appear in the new file

Then save it as a low quality JPEG. A low quality JPEG is best as it'll be quicker to load in so people can see it and your page faster. At this size the compression won't make much difference.

Also, when naming, it's best to add a number to it so you know what order they go in ie, underwater1, underwater2, etc

Simply repeat the process on the other 4 squares- square two- marquee, copy, new, paste, save, etc

Then upload them to your gallery page- log in -> gallery appearance -> artist profile -> browse for square 1 whatever you chose to call it -> upload. Artist profile -> square 2, etc

Ta-dah, you have a banner :)

Check that the snap is on- View -> Snap is ticked.

Make sure your image is flattened too Layer -> flatten image

Take your marquee tool and draw in the first box, it'll snap to the guide lines when it's close.

Copy it- Edit-> Copy

Open new file- File -> Open

The new file should automatically be the size of the image you've just copied so should be 120px x 120px, 72 dpi

Next we chop up the picture. There's a few ways of doing this bit I found this is easy and ensure tight fitting squares.

First add guide lines- View-> New guide

Put a guide line at-
Vertical- 0px, 120px, 240px, 360px, 480, 600px
Horzontal- 0px, 120px

(you have to do these one by one)

Okay, I've noticed a lot of people asking how to make a banner for their page. As my website and tutorial section is still down, I'll put step by steps here.

Basically you create a banner by uploading squares of the banner as your gallery buttons

How to make a banner in Photoshop-

First, make your banner image 120h x 600w at 72dip

you can use an existing pic and crop it or create a new pic. Use image -> image size/ canvas size to get the right size and dpi. You can work much larger and then shrink it down

To get rulers- View -> tick rulers
